Finally, after seven years since season 1 of taboo it has been confirmed the show season 2 has been renewed.
Taboo is a thrilling British drama series that premiered in 2017.Tom Hardy, Chips Hardy, and Steven Knight created the show. Set in London in 1814, the series follows James Delaney, an adventurer who returns from Africa after a decade.His return coincides with heightened tensions between the British Empire and Americans. After his father’s funeral, James inherits something that the British government, Americans, and the East India Trading Company all want. However, Delaney is no stranger to danger and devises a plan to save himself and his allies from these powerful enemies.
At the end of the first season, Delaney and his allies manage to escape the British authorities by ship. Instead of sailing to America, Delaney heads to Ponta Delgarda in Portugal to find an American agent named ‘Colonade.’ Fans have been eagerly waiting for the release of Taboo: Season 2 after a seven-year hiatus since the first season. The suspenseful cliffhanger ending of the first season has left viewers on the edge of their seats, and they demand answers.
Taboo season 2 release date
At the start of 2023, Taboo producer Dean Baker updated fans on the second season of the show. His team has finally started working on the next installment of the BBC hit.
“We are currently working on the second season of Taboo. Hopefully, we will get to explore more of Dickens, like Great Expectations, with Steve, Ridley, and Tom,” said Baker in an interview with The Radio Times.
The Hardy duo and Steven Knight haven’t been able to collaborate on Taboo: Season 2 so far due to their busy work schedules. However, Steven Knight confirmed in 2021 that he has written six out of the eight episodes for the season. Additionally, in March 2023, he revealed in an interview with Radio Times that he met with Tom Hardy to discuss the work on the second season.
It’s important to note that the delivery date we originally gave may not be feasible. However, we do have some tentative good news to share. A more realistic estimate for delivery would be later this year.

The upcoming show has the potential to bring back the main cast members including Lorna Bow/Delaney, portrayed by Jessie Buckley, Mark Gatiss who played the Prince Regent, Stephen Graham as Atticus, David Hayman playing Brace, Edward Hogg as Michael Godfrey, Jason Watkins as Solomon Coop, and Nicholas Woodeson portraying Robert Thoyt.
Additionally, there are recurring cast members such as Scroobius Pip (French Bill), Roger Ashton Griffiths (Abraham Appleby), Tom Hollander (George Cholmondeley), Marina Hands (Countess Musgrove), Lucian Msamati (George Chister), and Louis Serkis (Robert, James Delaney’s half-brother), who could also potentially make a comeback.
Where can I watch Taboo season two?
If there are no last-minute changes, the second season of Taboo is expected to be broadcasted on BBC One and iPlayer in the UK, just like the first season.. In the US, FX carries the show.
